I’ve got 4 of the Echo Dot’s - Gen2’s in the kitchen, office and down in the bar I’ve built at the end of the garden, and a Gen3 in the lounge.
Very useful for what we do with them. Don’t care if it’s listening in, if they want to listen the me and the wife’s boring conversations then they can

wonder how many of those "don't bother me, i've got nothing to hide" would've bought one if it came with a mandatory questionnaire where you filled out the exact life habits of you and your family right down to the last dump.
seems a lot to give up because you can't be bothered to use a keyboard.

I have mine linked to any.do to create shopping and to-do lists.
All my calendars (outlook, phone and google etc) are synched and linked to it so I can add my busy social life to it and also find out where I am supposed to be.
It can also tell me when my bins go out because I forget on a frequent basis.
Using IFTTT.com you can set up all sorts of stuff like making an announcement when you're nearly home so that the local karate instructor has time to get dressed.

I've got 3 - great for multiroom music, smart lights, Xbox, TV, heating, routines and calling a sub-standard AI a dozy fucking skank on a daily basis.

Bruuuno just link it to Evernote and google calendar and you are there.
Not sure it will pay bills though. Do people still manually pay bills or just direct debit?

Would it work so that I could clap my hands and say: pay gas bill and it would just call them up?
And if I had an appointment or memo I could just clap and say it and it would update my calendar?
